You can follow these steps in Puppy Linux after booting:

  1. Check internet connection first.

Open Terminal and run:

    sudo apt update

Install Korean fonts:

    sudo apt install fonts-noto-cjk

This will usually make:

  • Korean websites readable
  • Korean filenames visible
  • Korean text display correctly

Next, install locales:

sudo apt install locales sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales

Select:

    ko_KR.UTF-8 UTF-8

Then set default locale to:

    ko_KR.UTF-8

Next, install Korean input support:

    sudo apt install fcitx5 fcitx5-hangul

After installation, run:

    im-config

Select:

    fcitx5

Then logout/login or reboot.

After that, add environment variables:

    nano ~/.xprofile

Add these lines:

    export GTK_IM_MODULE=fcitx export QT_IM_MODULE=fcitx export XMODIFIERS=@im=fcitx

Save the file and reboot again.

After reboot:

  • Korean text should display
  • Korean keyboard input should work
  • Browser Korean input should work

Some Puppy Linux versions are different internally, so first check whether it supports apt.

Run these commands:

    cat /etc/os-release

and:

    which apt

Then show the results.
